Vulpine Smile “The Way It Flows”

Cunning Gutter-Blues Trio, Vulpine Smile, Release Seething New Single, “The Way It Flows”
Psychedelic blues unsettlers, Vulpine Smile return with their new single, The Way It Flows, every bit as creepily intoxicating as their fans will be anticipating. Taking their cue from old Delta blues, Vulpine Smile build on these primal building blocks and add a grindingly filthy layer of sexy, fuzzy rock. Evoking the likes of Nick Cave, The Cramps and, vocally, Jeff Buckley, Vulpine Smile combine murderous intent with a tongue-in-cheek sense of humour which will have you chuckling all the way to the gallows.

Cambridge-based trio Vulpine Smile – Josh Page; Jack Page; Matthew Bentley – issue the first single, The Way It Flows, from their forthcoming EP, and with it showcase their deeply-affecting sound which draws from early 20th Century Blues through to edgy garage-rock of the 70s and 80s and the grunge and experimental indie of the 90s and beyond. The title track is a gradually-building journey through stark chords and increasingly throat-threatening vocals, which build towards an eruption of fuzzed-out guitar and howling mayhem. B-side, Glass Machine, is equally alluring, a churning collision between Mudhoney and Jimi Hendrix’s Foxy Lady.

Hypnotically swirling sonic lawlessness and earthquake-generating hip thrusts are guaranteed with Vulpine Smile – as slyly cunning as their foxy name suggests but with layer upon layer of garage-blues mayhem, which is perfect for both beer-fuelled hoedowns and slipping into nightmare-filled unconsciousness. Prepare yourselves to be dragged down the rapids – we recommend you go with the way it flows.
